Cycle #1

The brain fog lifted Wednesday morning.  Whether the brain fog will be cyclical, or cumulative is to be determined. I am enjoying the clarity afforded.  Tuesday, I spent 40 minutes at Home Depot determining what plant pot to purchase for my lovely flamingo lily Van gifted me a year ago Valentine's Day.  The red anthurium tolerates neglect, indirect light, and dry air surprisingly well for a plant originating in the South America rain forest.  The poor thing has dropped from its plant stand on a few occasions, so I determined the pot size and weight ought to increase proportionate to the plant size.  This is a picture from the internet, but if you can imagine, the plant at home now resides in a black vego planter which complements Van's Rose Window Quilt from Mariner's Compass designed by Robin Ruth. (We are huge fans of Robin Ruth, especially following her quilt show last month in Ritzville, WA.)

The sweetest treat was delivered at our front door Wednesday afternoon.  Sarah J Hawkins with a tray full of freshly picked raspberries.  These home-grown raspberries are the perfect balance of sweet and tart, hearty and delicate.  They are my raspberry dream. All others pale in comparison.  Sarah began sharing her raspberries with us, wow, many years ago and seasonally since then.  She also donates service to us by weeding and trimming our curbside during the summer months.  Sarah claims it gives her blessings and an outlet for pent up emotions.  All I know is that she is truly blesses us and we are grateful!

The air quality in Spokane Valley has thwarted my hope of weeding the flower beds.  I awoke early with determination both yesterday and today, but the air quality, which was unhealthy for sensitive people, this morning turned to unhealthy air quality for all people and pets.  So indoors I have been.

Yesterday, I spent hours composing a landscape quilt of Cannon Beach (yet to be stitched together), and today, I have watched It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and the American Experiment (2 episodes) on Netflix.  I have enjoyed more entertainment whether audiobooks, docudramas, and films this June and July than I have for years. It feels indulgent, but so enjoyable.

In addition, this year being the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, I have enjoyed time and space to develop a more cohesive education about the origination I feel lof American Independence, beyond the sparce facts memorized in school.  With multiple sources available, unencumbered time, my appreciation of this nation is expanding.
