May flowers and May yardwork
Ah, the merry month of May!
Sunshine and sprinkles of rain.
We have been enjoying Van's nurses week bulbs and my Mother's day roses. They really brighten our kitchen table today.
I have also been fascinated by clouds in the sky, and sunsets, and the cutest brown bunny that has been visiting our backyard nibbling on dandelion leaves and long blades of grass.
Today, Van and I teamed up to conquer the lawn mowing. It is always so green and lush early spring but begins to look ragged and thorning by May. We turned on the sprinkler system Saturday and mowed our 3 yards on our 1/3 acre. Van used the monster lawn mower and I used a smaller one. We laughed recognizing we used to work as a couple and accomplish twice as much work in half the time. Now we work as a couple and do half the work in twice as much time. We felt accomplished, though. This weekend we went to the Spokane Community College Garden Expo, and later Costco that led to planting 3 blueberry bushes, 2 dahlias, and stopped there knowing our fantasy is much greater than our present ability. It feels so good to be working outdoors again. Our poor yard has been neglected for the last 3 years due to breathing issues and stability issues. We likely need 6 more years to turn the yard back to where it was when we were just 3 years into our home. It can happen, right?
