Have you ever?
Oh, the funny things we do. Several years ago, we replaced our mini-blinds, with another type of window blind. The blinds remain horizontally slatted but wider and more substantial. I have handwashed some blinds nearest the kitchen sink but they have been neglected for a couple of years, and are so dirty that they have sticky grime. I didn't want to replace them with another set of blinds, as that would lead to a complete replacement project throughout our house for 50-100 $ per window, so I have put it off. But, I couldn't take it any longer, and removed them, placing them in the bathroom tub for cleaning. My husband who returned home noticed the absence of the blinds. "Don't wash them in the tub. There is a local business that can clean them for us." Within a few moments, we had am appointment for a Monday morning cleaning at Super Sonic Blind Cleaners We took the kitchen sink blinds and our bathroom blinds (the two filthiest sets of blinds in our home.) In less 3 hours and under $40 we received them in nearly new condition. It was so easy!
How did I not know there was an inexpensive alternative to hand scrubbing blinds! I could have saved millions of negative thoughts about the filthy blinds and housekeeping neglect.
Shout out to Spokane's Super Sonic Blind Cleaners. Saved time, $, and replacement costs.
Now to clean the actual windows...
Another "cleaning organization thingy".
Being empty nester, we have an empty bedroom. In our master bedroom, we have an armoire that obscured the path from bed to bathroom. Numerous nights, I have bruised my left leg negotiating a brisk jog around the armoire in the dark.
Well, this weekend, we moved that armoire to the empty bedroom and voila no more obstacle course.
Sometimes the obstacles in life have a much simpler solution than we imagine.
Now to decide if the spare bedroom is my new dressing room, or a new sitting room.
Another solution found as I removed emptied my makeup organizer from the shelf, disposing of anything I no longer Ionger use. I think it gave Maddie great pain to see me let go of untouched face creams designed to enhance my older skin, or collect in a bag no less than 7 partially used lotion containers (the air is a "bit" dry in the Spokane - Inland Northwest). However, my face really is not in need of excessive skin care and I often go days without applying makeup.
Yet, another thing our 25 year old Maddie cannot appreciate at her age.
Removing these facial products was liberating! Doesn't any 65 year old women long for a little cosmetic liberation?!!
Voila! Done.
Guess what is next on my housekeeping deep cleaning project?
Aka why do I put some things off so long?
