Thoughts from woman's conference

I attended a LDS woman's conference yesterday. I was impressed by the statement "As we weather the storms of life, God's vision for you does not change". We may not be living the happily ever after we dreamed of as a young girl, but through the atonement of Jesus Christ we will enjoy pur happily ever after.
Ezra Taft Benson said "There is a great tendency for us to lament about our losses, about decisions that we have made that we think in retrospect were probably wrong decisions. There is a great tendency for us to feel badly about the circumstances with which we are surrounded, thinking they might have been better had we made different decisions. We can profit by the experience of the past. But let us not spend our time worrying about decisions that have been made, mistakes that have been made. Let us live in the present and in the future."
This is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel of hope.
Sometimes we focus on wanting someone oin our relationship to change. We can only change ourselves. Others we just have to get used to. Sis Marjorie Hinckley said...“I was just sure the first ten years would be bliss. But during our first year together I discovered … there were a lot of adjustments. Of course, they weren’t the kind of thing you ran home to mother about. But I cried into my pillow now and again. The problems were almost always related to learning to live on someone else’s schedule and to do things someone else’s way. We loved each other, there was no doubt about that. But we also had to get used to each other. I think every couple has to get used to each other.”
These thoughts led me to exploring more Hinckley quotes.

Another thought. .. When we desire to grow on our relationship with others...grow closer to becoming like Jesus Christ. Even if the other person in the relationship doesn't appear to do likewise, becoming closer to Christ will help you view that person as Christ does.
