Loss and love of a friend

January 19, 2026

My friend, Keelyn, succumbed to her glioblastoma brain tumor, and passed away just 3 days after her 62nd birthday. Keelyn was a big part of our 36 years in Spokane, Washington.  As a founding member of our BOG family group, we enjoyed biking, camping, Family Home Evenings, friendship, game nights and gatherings, holidays, home improvements and repairs, much laughter, musical productions, picnics, and so much more. We also learned to heal, mourn loss, and serve together. Keelyn's enthusiasm, kindness, and love extended far beyond our BOG family, as she developed enduring friendships with children, co-workers, family members, and pets. She loved art, dance, music, and outdoor recreation.  Keelyn had a big heart and found joy in giving to others, especially family.  She loved shopping with her mother for vintage treasures and displayed them charmingly throughout her home.  She was thrilled to spend time with her Dad in Florence, Italy taking in all the stunning art and venues, and she was always supportive of him and his artistic skill. Keelyn was so close to her children, Evan and Jolyn, found so much joy in their growth, and remained a primary loving support in their lives. Married, first to Jon, and later to Mark, she grew through relationships to find her "happiness".  Keelyn, I love you and miss you.  Your friendship has enriched my life so much with compassion, joy, and kindness.  Even as you were preparing to leave us, you and Jolyn created Christmas ornaments for our trees.  Always a giver!

We will know each other again in heaven, though we never guessed you would enter there first.  I love you my friend. Until we meet again.  Lisa
