retirement curriculum
Yesterday afternoon, a planned upper endoscopy was performed on me. The body is very interesting and complex. Ever heard of a Schatzkis' ring? Me neither. Simply put it is a thin ring of tissue growth in the esophagus that can cause swallowing issues. It was removed and my esophagus was dilated to provide a bit of expansion. But that is not all. I had a hiatal hernia, along with superficial healing ulcers. Biopsies were performed in my esophagus and stomach, for pathology review which will take about 2 weeks.
The more I learn about my body, the more fascinated I become with the human body and science. If it wasn't for all the memorization required for the course, I may be interested in attending a few semesters of anatomy and physiology. Perhaps, I should do some independent study from Van's nursing curriculum in my retirement.
My desire to eat is hinting to emerge. Not for fast foods, that is for certain, but for small healthy low sugar meals. I have added cooking to my retirement curriculum as well.
See, there is always something more to discover, at any age. Some people travel in retirement. Due to current health conditions, I may be taking a roadmap through anatomy, learning what is needed to my restore health.
