Meet Myrna
We had just signed papers for our 2005 silver-mint green Mercury Mariner and were sitting in the lobby of our local Black Angus restaurant. Two of our children were entertaining themselves with the usual teen banter. Suddenly names came popping out of our mouths. "How about Myrna?"
Following dinner we returned home and looked up the name we'd chosen for my car in our family name book. Scottish origin "gentle", "beloved".
"For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12
We found my car and discovered her name.
And we hope the scripture description is accurate :-)
She may not have all the bells and whistles, or space capacity of our former car...but we sail on into the next phase of our lives. And Myrna is Mom's car.
I discovered Myrna at the Thrifty Car Sales lot when I told the sales manager I needed a reliable car with as low miles as possible for under $10,000. It would need to carry 5 passengers, accommodate and aging parent with some mobility issues, tote skis and bicycles, and possible a small camper one day. They had two options - a silver Dodge Caravan with stow-away seats, or Myrna. I loved her form the beginning, but I wasn't sold. I sent a picture to the Emperor, and studied used vehicles on line for 5 hours that night. I awoke convinced we had found a fair deal on a car that would meet my needs. So by 5 pm the following day, I drove away in Myrna with brand new tires, a new muffler, and a promissory note for the local credit union.

This is Myrna.
She has more than a few thousand miles, but she is clean and dependable (we added an extended warranty just in case). She has a smoke-free tan interior and a light mint silver green exterior (satellite silver?) She is well cared for with a sunroof, Cd player, and cup holders. She is not a sleek yacht, (the Emperor calls her a tank); She is a powerboat with a V6 engine designed to pull and play.
We sail on with Myrna.
