How does an Aspie cope with Public Schools?

Sounds like a riddle doesn't it?  I'm looking into options for my child with Asperger's other than public school.  It's challenging to find ways to educate someone so dependent on the feedback of others to learn without subjecting them to ridicule and humilation by their peers because of their idiosyncrasies.
